Why did you decide to exit the fight gear/ MMA market?
.... Well my life doesn't and never did just revolve around the MMA arena. I was one of the owners in a clothing company but felt it became one dimentional ... I love sports and Havoc allows me to dip into many different sports. There are many athletes and many are not represented due to a lack of recognition in their particular sport...Our desire is to assist these individuals in obtaining their goals and that is what we set out to do.
Havoc Instinct... do you see it being a big name in MMA clothing?...... Like TapOut? or Affliction?
NO. We are not a fight gear company and MMA is a very small part of our DNA. Will we have one, two or more fighters wearing a specialized Havoc Instinct shirt? Absolutely. We intend on being very selective as to who we represent. Sometimes when I watch MMA fights whether on tv or live I see a fight with both guys being represented by the same company and I am like...WTH? The one guys is good and a cool guy, and the other is a complete jerk... why put your name on someone who I wouldn't even want to be in the same room with. For me it is about integrity and that's why we are selective.
Tell us about HI athletics
....Extremely exciting division of Havoc Instinct. Chris and I have spent endless hours preparing the launch of HI Athletics. From standout high school athletes looking to the future or working with boosters for fund raising, we have designed a unique product for our clients. Keep checking on our website, there are some amazing student athletes that will be featured... cool stuff!
What separates you from your competition?
Everything! Originality is the first thing that comes to mind. One of a kind, designed for the individual we are working with. You've heard the phrase "whatever you want"... well, show me a company that will design, produce, and market a shirt for an individual that is not a million dollar ball player.... but rather a high school athlete that either needs to raise money for a special trip or that needs to be recognized in order to get to the next level. We not only do it, we expect it.
Does Havoc do any charity work or fund raising?
One of the first things that Chris and I discussed when we founded Havoc Instinct was the importance of giving. Whether it is to a particular organization, a church, or individuals in need. We generally don't believe in the "look what we did" philosophy, we do however post links on the website and encourage organizations to email us regarding fund raising events.
Do you have a Family?
Yes. Wonderful wife and a 6 year old son. They are what drives me to be successful. Success is not a money meter for me, it is multi-dimensional in my world.
What are your favorite sports?
Absolutely love hockey, played baseball, football, even bowled on my school team in high school. There isn't a sport that I wouldn't give a try.
Some would say that you are rarely a serious person, is that true?
....Seriously?... Yes, that is true, but I do make exceptions when my in-laws are in town. I think that humor is extremely important in relationships, business as well as sports. I encourage our employees to be themselves and that most certainly includes their sense of humor.
